Switzerland: Zurich & Lucerne

Not too long ago I went to Switzerland with my friends Amy, Sally, and Chandler. It was honestly kind of a spur of the moment thing for Chandler and I as the girls had planned this already. So like true adventurers anyway we packed up and went on. Our train over took about 6 hours from Florence. It went by fairly fast with books, sleep, and several loud card games.

Quiet church in Zürich. Picturesque if you will....

Our hostel was located on a busy street with a lot of bars and raucous activities. By the time we got back though, it was pretty late and we were tired so we went straight to sleep. The next day we set out into Zürich in the morning. We walked around for a while and went down some back allies as usual, but we finally saw some bikes and rented them for FREE! yesss. We got around town a lot faster after that and saw more of the city. Zurich has a lot of watch and chocolate shops, we are in Switzerland after all.

My bud and I Chandler in Zürich.

We rode around for a couple of hours experiencing the city and finally stopped for a bratwurst and Sprite lunch. It was awesome. Zürich also had a ridiculous festival going on that weekend which I think I figured out happened every weekend. It was huge and every one came out to strut their stuff. I wish some place like Austin did that every weekend. We set out again at night for the nightlife of Zurich and talked to some locals about the hot spots. They were pretty cute. We spent the rest of the night dancing away along with some pork ribs, German beer, and thousands of Swiss folk. Lucerne followed the next day.

Another sweet church pic.

Lucerne is a smaller Swiss town west I believe of Zürich. Our hostel was set right on the lake with like 10 others, but ours was the coolest hostel I've ever seen or heard of. If you ever go to Lucerne let me know and I'll give you the hook up. We again walked around Lucerne to see the sights and at night ended up going to a Thai food place to eat. The brats were getting to me and the food was cheap. Whatever.

Part of the huge festival in Zürich. This and played classical European stuff. Legit.

We ended up then going to a sweet Jazz bar with good beer that instead of playing jazz actually had a Swiss national team soccer game on. It was fun getting rowdy with the locals over soccer so it sufficed for the night. Those were the majority of our journeys in Switzerland and it was overall a big blast. I heard the adventure sports there are amazing as well so if your thinking about going, definitely go!

Next up is some Venice stuff. Good day.

First Weekend: London

Its been a crazy but legit first 2 weeks here in Europe. I've been in 3 countries so far since I left and that's just the beginning. For the start of the program we went to London for 2 days to get acclimated to Europe I suppose. London is huge city, with lots of history and people. I remember it being dark and kinda gloomy when we got there and it turned out to be pretty much that way. Not to say the whole city is though, London is ridiculously vibrant with life.

Kensington Park. A beautiful park with gardens and a pond and such. Close to Hyde Park and Buckingham Palace.

The first story of London I can remember is when my friend Leo got stopped by random Jamaican security guards at this store. He didn't actually steal anything but the guys came running after him yelling "where's the product?" After a few tense moments he managed to prove his innocence and get back to the hotel. Which was sweet by the way. I'm pretty sure I said "where's the product" in a half Jamaican, half English accent the rest of the day.

Besides those shenanigans we went out the first night to see what the great city had to offer American college students in terms of booze and dancing. Like you didn't know. After many bright lights and a raucous strip search and outrageous cover charge (minus the ladies of course,) we actually got in to a semi-decent place. Whatever.

There's more stories but I'll skip to the highlights I suppose. Some of them were:

Big Ben. It was really huge actually and a pretty sweet sight.

The London Bridge.

A statue by Buckingham Palace. I just thought it looked fierce.

I couldn't get a single good shot of this place. But this is a shot of the Queen's pad. Not bad I guess.

----

We only had 2 days in London so it was very short, but a good experience overall. We left for Florence at a brisk 4am to fly at 7am to Rome. We all really just stayed up from the night before so it wasn't bad. The vidoes I took are taking FOREVER to upload so those will come up later. Leave comments so I know some actually reads this. Or on what you want me to say. That is all.

Next up is some Florence and other Italy stuff so far.

This is where I live:

This is where I'm going:

I'll be in Europe for the next 5 months and for now at least this seems like a good idea to keep yall in touch with my adventures. So every week, maybe more, I'll be uploading travel photos, (like this one)

and maybe even a video or two (also like or related to this fancy dig):

Anyway I don't leave for another week 1/2 so check back at the end of August and I may have some stuff up from London and Florence. Until then, good day to you.
